What if I do not have access to the internet or need help taking part?

If you would like to take part but are unable to complete the survey online, please contact Verian at householdenergysurvey@veriangroup.com and a paper version of the questionnaire will be sent to you. The paper questionnaire will be posted along with a pre-paid envelope to allow you to post it back to us at no extra cost.

What do you need to do?

If you are the person responsible for your household energy bills, we would like for you to complete this survey. Simply go to Home Page or scan the QR code from your invitation letter and enter your username and passcode (provided to you in the letter sent to your household) to take part.

Why did we choose your address?

As it is not possible to ask everyone to take part in the survey, Verian selected a sample of addresses to represent the entire country. Your address was selected at random from a list of all addresses in the United Kingdom held by the Royal Mail.

Who is carrying out the survey?

The survey is being carried out by Verian on behalf of the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ). Verian is an independent research agency providing services to government and the public realm. Verian is bound by the Market Research Society (MRS) Code of Conduct – a set of agreements that ensure research is conducted in an ethical and safe manner. Is this survey confidential?

Yes. Your contact details will be held securely at all times and your responses will be treated confidentially. The information that is collected will only be used for research purposes. Your address details are kept separate from your answers and will not be passed on to DESNZ or to any other organisation.

No individual or household will be identifiable from the results and you will not receive any ‘junk mail’ as a result of taking part.

DESNZ will use the information received in this survey to improve household energy policy across Great Britain and help households manage their energy use more effectively.

How long will you keep survey data collected about me?

All information will be processed in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation.

Verian will delete your name and any contact details provided after 12 months. You can request that your data is deleted before that date by emailing householdenergysurvey@veriangroup.com and quote ‘Household Energy Survey’.

What are your rights?

Completion of this survey is voluntary. We will ask for details such as your views on a range of topics. We will also ask you for sensitive information such as your age and ethnicity, but you don’t have to answer these questions. You may withdraw from participation in the study at any time.

How to collect the voucher

Once you have completed the survey you will be directed to Merit, our voucher website, where you can choose from a range of different £5 shopping vouchers.

If you completed the survey by post, we will post your £5 voucher (valid at most high street stores) to you once we receive your completed questionnaire.
